The Center for Genomic Engineering (CGE) is composed of nine independent research teams (as of 2023). The core lab of the center is led by the GGE’s director, Dr. Bon-Kyoung Koo, and composed of the independent Koo Lab and the core facilities team. The other independent research teams are all led by promising early career scientists, four adjunct scholars from top-tier universities in South Korea, two research fellows, and three senior researchers.
The CGE encourages its individual labs to set bold, yet feasible goals as well as to actively cooperate with each other so as to create a research-focused environment that is both friendly and professional. Our aim is to build a ‘research playground’ at the Institute for Basic Science (IBS), which offers firm and stable support system for both Korean and foreign junior scientists, allowing them become highly successful academic leaders in basic research.
